Pisos Saludables is a contribution, from Fundación Carlos F. Novella, to the women who have been part of the Better Families Program and who have been trained in Food and Nutritional Security.

Recognizing that every family requires a dignified environment to grow physically, mentally and emotionally, makes us sensitive to improve housing for people’s wellbeing.

A floor in proper conditions can be the difference between a healthy life or a series of gastrointestinal and respiratory complications.

Under this principle, the Carlos F. Novella Foundation has delivered to 1,719 women, 20 square meters of material to cast the main area of their homes; this in recognition of their participation, effort, and perseverance in the “Mejores Familias” program “Better Families”.

A worthwhile effort

Women from the communities of Asunción Chivoc, Comunidad de Ruiz, San Antonio Las Trojes, Santa Fe Ocaña, Sajcavillá, Las Palmas, Los Guates, San Jerónimo Chuaxán, Pilar 1 and 2, Cruz Verde, Cruz Blanca, Cerro Candelaria; all communities of San Juan Sacatepéquez, as well as Sinaca Abajo, Sinaca Arriba, El Chile, San Miguel Conacaste, Carrizo, El Común Matasano and Monte Grande; all communities of Progreso, have received this contribution.

The requirement to have access to these materials is to graduate within the framework of the Better Families Program; this implies 100 percent participation in the Program’s thematic axes, as well as developing all the training activities required by the program. On the other hand, they commit to participate in the floor casting training on the day of the material delivery event. The beneficiary families receive 42 bags of Concrete 3001 to improve their homes.

‘Pisos Saludables’ Healthy Floors in different dimensions

In terms of health, it reduces the incidence of diarrhea, parasites, and anemia in children under five years of age, which has a significant impact on children’s weight and height, favoring physical and cognitive development. In terms of housing quality, a cement floor significantly improves infrastructure, increases the value of the home, and makes it a safe space by reducing exposure to pests, insects, and other dangerous vermin. From an economic point of view, it reduces the investment in the health of all family members.

Since 2009, different families in San Juan Sacatepéquez and El Progreso have been benefited, receiving construction materials that are used for the foundry of safe and dignified floors.

[11

post-1313","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
