A critical need for hygienic environments

The top ten causes of morbidity in Guatemala include respiratory infections, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, amebiasis, and intestinal parasites.

The high incidence of these diseases reported by the Ministry of Public Health’s Health Management Information System, highlights the critical need for more hygienic environments and reducing exposure to factors that contribute to these conditions.

Nearly 850 thousand homes with dirt floors

Dirt floors are directly linked to parasites, bacteria, and gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases, fueling the vicious cycle of unhealthiness and poverty.
